AI Podcast Cover Art Maker

Cover art that still reads at 55 pixels in a podcast app.

Podcast art has one brutal constraint: it is browsed as a thumbnail the size of a fingernail. Design Maker AI composes for that first — a single strong image idea, a title set large enough to survive the shrink, and contrast that holds up against a dark app background.

Why use this instead of a template

Legible as a tile

Title type sized against the smallest display, not the largest — the test that most hand-made covers fail.

Genre-aware mood

True crime, business, comedy and interview shows read differently. Naming the genre shifts palette, texture and type accordingly.

Season and episode variants

Once the cover exists, ask for a season-two treatment or an episode tile that keeps the identity but changes the accent.

Directory-ready export

Square PNG or JPG at 3000 × 3000, which satisfies Apple Podcasts and Spotify without a resize.

How the podcast cover maker works

Four steps, and only the first one costs credits.

  1. 1

    Name the show and genre

The exact title in quotes, plus the mood you want a browser to feel.

  2. 2

    Generate the square

You get a 1:1 cover with the title set and the imagery composed behind it.

  3. 3

    Check it small

Preview at thumbnail scale. If the title thins out, ask in chat for heavier type or more contrast.

  4. 4

    Export at 3000 px

Download and upload to your host — the size both major directories ask for.

Who it's for

The jobs people bring to this tool most often.

New shows

A launch cover before episode one, without waiting on a designer.

Rebrands

A fresh identity for a show that has outgrown its first cover.

Limited series

A distinct treatment that still belongs to the parent show.

Episode tiles

Per-episode art for guests and topics.

Music releases

Single and album artwork on the same square canvas.

Audiobooks

Square covers derived from an existing book jacket.

Podcast cover art sizes and requirements

Apple Podcasts asks for square artwork between 1400 × 1400 and 3000 × 3000 pixels in JPG or PNG, RGB, at 72 dpi or higher. Spotify accepts the same square format and recommends the upper end of that range. Generating at 3000 × 3000 means one file satisfies every directory.

The number that actually matters is none of those: it is roughly 55 pixels, the size of a cover in a "recently played" row. Design for that and the large version takes care of itself.

What separates a cover that works

Strong podcast art usually commits to one idea — a single object, a single face, a single typographic gesture — and lets it fill the square. Covers that fail tend to include a photo, a wordmark, a tagline, a host name and a network logo, none of which are readable at tile size.

A useful discipline: the title should be the second thing you notice after the image, and nothing should be the third. Ask the generator to remove elements rather than shrink them.

Keeping episode art on-brand

Once a show has a cover, episode tiles should look related without being identical. Hold the type treatment and the layout, and change one variable — the accent colour, the photograph, the texture.

Because refinements happen in chat against the existing design, you can ask for "same cover, guest photo instead of the forest, accent in amber" and get a tile that clearly belongs to the same series.

Podcast Cover Maker FAQ

3000 × 3000 pixels square is the safe answer: it meets the Apple Podcasts maximum and Spotify recommendation at once. The absolute minimum Apple accepts is 1400 × 1400.

The layout is composed for thumbnail legibility, and you can preview at small scale before exporting. If the title looks thin, ask in chat for heavier type or more background contrast.

Yes — music artwork uses the same 1:1 canvas and the same size guidance, so the tool works for singles, albums and audiobook covers.

Yes. Start from your show cover and ask for a variant with a new photo or accent colour, and the episode tile keeps the show identity.
